BEFORE TOY KINGDOM, THERE'S TOYLANDIA!

"PAMASKONG MEDYAS SA PADER:
...SAAN KAYA NANGGAGALING ANG MGA LARUAN KO.?"
"SA TOYLANDIA --- DI KASI NAMAN!"
says an ad in 1966 introducing TOYLANDIA, a new one-stop toy center, the biggest during that time. I was just a kid then and living just a few blocks away at West Avenue, QC. We frequent the place from time to time. So, when I saw this ad from my old magazines the other day, I was amused and sharing this would somehow rekindle happy moments in one's childhood.

Toylandia was my Mothers brainchild, we lived on the top floor. Prior to the building being built, we lived in our house which was behind the store. I remember this clearly. Circle Theatre was behind us.

When you walked through the front entrance, on your right was a diner / restaurant. The nutritionist was Myrna Galvez. To the left was the grocery store, Roche was the manager. In the mezzanine was the actual Toylandia store, as a kid back then, I enjoyed walking through the store, then on the 3rd floor was a night club, called "The Cage".

Above the cage, was another floor, with a HUGE balcony, it overlooked Quezon Boulevard Extension (back then) now called Quezon Avenue. I remember watching commercials being filmed from the outdoor area.

My mother is Erlinda Quintos, the creator / owner of Toylandia.

Wow! Good to have someone in the know from the past. It's almost impossible to find photos of this place! Perhaps you have some in your old albums which you may share somewhere for everyone to see Toylandia once again?
