METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL (1975- PRESENT)

The Metro Manila Film Festival made its debut in 1975 replacing the Manila Film Festival. It was known then as the Metropolitan Film Festival. It was held for the first time on September 21, 1975 to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial law. Today, it is known as Metro Manila Film Festival. It runs from the 25th of December to the first week of January.

MMF is now an institution which millions of Filipinos are eagerly waiting at the end of each year...and not just in Metro Manila because the same movies are also screened in other big urban centers nationwide.
