BROCKA, etal

Signed photo of actress Lolita Rodriguez.

Brocka's "Tinimbang Ka Nguni't Kulang," released in 1974

Director Lino Brocka’s Video 48's Borrower’s Card before his untimely tragic death in a car accident on May 21, 1991 in Quezon City, Metro Manila. Note that he was able to return the tapes May 20, a day before that fateful day. Too bad, I wasn't able to get his autograph, and my only consolation is the initial LB he scribbled at the card's right side.

Somebody told me about this cute and wonderful article on Brocka, etal, which he stumbled in one of the weblogs. I was amused and of course, flattered. Here it is---

lino brocka (and other great and well-known directors) rent DVD'S at video48 (the place where we rent)we had a zoo presentation awhile ago about our virtual cell. i was the virus. weee! i actually acted. pangit ang performance ko. hah. feeling. we had a perfect score. but the long quiz oh boy that's another story. i got a freaking low grade. boo.
after zoo, i bought my lunch but i didn't eat it yet cause i wasnt hungry. then i went sa waiting shed in front of xavier to wait for my mom. i sat there for one and a half hour. then i went to bel and sat there for another thirty minutes. ang tagal dumating ng mommy ko eh. sobrang nabulok talaga ako sa ateneo sa kakahintay.
then we went sa bank. then we went sa video 48 to rent great expectations (fave movie daw ni yani wala lang), other old movies, and the ten things i hate about you cause i wanna watch it again and i need to watch it for my paper for lit wherein we have to write a paper about which movie character would we like to marry (not the actor who plays them so i have to rule out the rnj play) and we have to describe them based on the movies and we have to characterize them and everything and i chose patrick verona (heath ledger) as the movie charatcer that i wanna marry. so there. and i love love love that rental place cause they have every movie from classics to foreign titles to chic lit to koreanovelas to pinoy cheesy romances as in everything.
and now i am remembering spongecola's song MOVIE which i so so so love and i even made a story about it for my creative writing and journalism elective during 4th year hs and i love that story so much i still carry it around in my expandable envelope even if im in college already. guess who the lead character is. if you know me well enough you'll know who the lead is.
back to video 48. the owner was a big fan of fpj and he has a huge collection of fpj movies and memorabilias and everything. not only that but i looove going to that place because of his huge, gargantuan, massive toy collection which are on display in glass cases in the rental shop. and shit. a huge huge huge collection of star wars, lord of the rings, superheroes basta ang dami and ang ganda. may life size yoda pa na iniyakan ng cousin kong kid kasi gusto niyang iuwi. eh not for sale yun. although now, he sells the toys already (i think). and ang dami niyang light saber gusto ko nang nakawin yun. basta ang complete ng toy colection niya. may spaceships and everything. sila gandalf may kabayo, sword basta you have to see it to appreciate it.
and then there were old movie posters too (framed na) that he sells and i wanna buy them so that i could decorate my room with those posters. cause so far my vomit-inducing girly-girl room are only decorated with random posters and pictures of random people. konti nga lang eh kasi malamang pagagalitan ako kapag buong room may pics. so yun. i'll convert my room as a mini theater room. oo nga. may dvd component na nga dun na surround sound pa. with the massive and loud speakers. wala nga lang akong tv. bawal daw tv sa bedroom. boo. so there. mini theater bedroom. woohoo. tapos di pa masyadong maingay dun kasi sa attic nga ako ipinuwesto ng magulang ko eh. kasi witch daw ako takot sila. joke. basta ako lang maingay dun.
anyway. dun nga sa video 48, may laminated papers dun na nakadisplay sa wall and well-known directors have signed and written messages for video 48. as in they too rent at that place. lino brocka doesnt have a message though his rental card was also displayed. wooo. ang galing. malay mo yung ni-rent niya, na rent namin. wow. cool. he's a really well known director. i havent really seen his works yet but based from other people, he's one of the greatest director the philippines has had. and i wanna be a director too. ng play ng movie ng whatever. perfect job for me as i'm really really bossy.
so after we went there, we went sa stc to fetch my sister. my mom dropped me off because she went to another bank. so i waited for my sister and tumambay sa gate three and since ayaw akong papasuking nung guard sa gate three, hah pumasok ako sa gate 5. naisahan ko siya. belat. so there. naglibot ako sa may highschool area, umabot pa ko dun sa may mga classrooms at hinanap ang kapatid ko pero wala siya. so yun. bumalik ako sa may gate 4 and andun siya. and yung mga 4th year peeps and mga classmates ng kapatid kong third year ay tinitignan ako. as in tingin at my face then my shirt then my id then my flipflops. at bakit kaya? tinignan at tinitigan ko din sila. siguro na-miss nila ako. bwahaha. as if feeling ko naman.
so sabi ko dati di ako babalik ng stc ever sa taong ito. eh bakit bumalik ako? isa lang ang answer. i miss high school. not stc but high school itself. and i miss my iv4 classmates. and i saw ikai. and i said hi kahit nasa car na ko. and namiss ko din ang quail eggs. ah basta. namiss ko highschool at yung mga panget people na involved sa buhay highschool ko. bwahaha.
ISANG TULOG NA LANG (well actually plano kong di matulog) BAGO HP 7. wahahaha
excited na ko. ikaw?
