THE 1994 METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL: NO BEST PICTURE; ROI VINZON, BEST ACTOR

There were no winners in six major categories in the 1994 Metro Manila Film Festival. The Best Picture, Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award, Second and Third Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay awards were not given. “None of the entries was deserving,” according to the Board of Jurors chairman Alejandro Roces.

Tagalog Ilang-Ilang Productions and Levin Films’ Lucas Abelardo won six awards--- Best Actor (Roi Vinzon); Best Supporting Actress (Teresa Loyzaga); Best Story (Joe Balagtas); Best Original Song (Rey Magtoto); Best Editing (Renato de Leon) and Best Sound Recording (Rolly Ruta).


Mahogany Pictures and Moviestars Productions’ Kanto Boy: Anak ni Totoy Guwapo had 3 awards--- Best Actress (Kimberly Diaz/ Kanto Boy); Best Supporting Actor (Dick Isarel) and Best Musical Score (Jaime Fabregas).


Viva Films’ Ang Pagbabalik ni Pedro Penduko received 5 awards---Best Production Design (Ben Payumo); Best Cinematography (Ben Lobo); Best Visual Effects (Cinemagic); Best Make-up (Rey Salamat) and Best Float.


Child actor Tom Taus, Jr. received the Best Child Performer award for Shake, Rattle & Roll V.
