A GREAT FIND AT BOOKSALE : "GRETA GARBO: CINEMATIC LEGACY"

I normally passed by Booksale outlets when I go to shopping malls, rummaging and browsing on numerous books and magazines selling at marked down prices. Just lucky enough to find this book, "Greta Garbo: Cinematic Legacy" priced at php 490.00 (approx. $11-12 at 44:1). A huge discount since this book when I googled can be purchased for US$ 36.50 at Amazon.com, down from the original list price of $50.00.

Usually, old books are much cheaper in second hand bookstores allover North America. But, when people are selling it through the net, they always make it more expensive.
I didn't know you're also a book collector. You must have several bedrooms in your house full of your collections of Videos, DVDs, books, comic books, Photos, and so on.

I have a very rare book, 12 X 17 inches, called SPECTACULAR The story of Epic Films (published by Castle Books), printed in West Germany in 1974.

I was attracted to the two cats in a second hand book store, so to pet them, I entered the store. I played with the cats, then lifted one of them and walked around the store, carrying the cat while I browsed the shelves. Then, I saw this huge book with Charleston Heston on the cover from El Cid. I got it for $5 (Cats not included). What's so good about this book is that it actually traces back from DW Griffith. The Photos are huge, some of them bleeding pages with posters of the movie and those spectacular De Mille films. I placed the book in the basement and forgot about it. Last year during Spring cleaning time, I went down to discard books and other stuff that I thought should be thrown out. I saw the book again. So I sat down and quickly flip some pages and really enjoyed the photos and the text that describes the era of spectacular films. Curious to see when it got published, I turned to the first page and was surprised to see that Charlton Heston had actually signed the book! So I kept it and read it, and it is actually a wonderful book that every cineaste would love to read. I checked how much they're selling this for via the internet, and one is for sale at rarebooks.com for $269.95

Well, that's totally overpriced, I must say. I got it for $5 in a second hand bookstore here in Vancouver, why would anyone pay $269.95 for it?

Well, I might... if the two cats were included in the deal.

:)

I saw another copy for sale in the internet for $318 (without Heston's signature). Now, this is insane.
