MORE ON PRE-WAR TAGALOG MOVIES: ROSA DEL ROSARIO, GREGORIO FERNANDEZ, DOMINGO PRINCIPE, RITA RICA, LEOPOLDO SALCEDO, PEDRO FAUSTINO IN "TAONG DEMONYO" (1937) / UPDATED

"Taong Demonyo" Esperanza Cruz daring novel of the cacique rule by young, spoiled plutocrats in the provinces is a film of unique records.

First, because in its cast are included no less than 17 favorites of the local screen headed by Rosa del Rosario, Gregorio Fernandez, Rita Rica, Nela Alvarez, Leopoldo Salcedo and supported by Domingo Principe, Antonia Santos, Telesforo Manalo, Sonia Bella, Librada Constantino, Juanita Angeles, Pedro Faustino, Miguel Anzures, Alipio Silverio, Lucio Ablaza, Roberto Luna and Narding Anzures

Second, because it took  no less than eight months to complete the picture.

Third, because it required two directors to complete the production.

Fourth, because it is the longest picture ever filmed in the Philippines, being made up of 15 long parts whereas ordinary pictures seldom exceed the 10 parts limit.

Fifth, because its story is one of the boldest ever conceived by a local author and one of the strongest ever brought to the screen.

"Taong Demonyo" comes to the Fox beginning August 23.

"Movie flyers have been used by theater owners as promotional ads to drum up business for movies. They would print them up from materials provided by the studio, adding information on local screening times and locations. Although they were cheaply produced, many of the flyers were quite nicely designed and are now considered highly collectibles. In many cases the original films have been lost, making the surviving flyers the only visual record of numerous movies."
