PINOY SCI-FI #2: ZAREX (1958)

In 1950, Hollywood came up with an award winning movie (Oscar winner for Best Special Effects), Destination Moon.

In 1958, the Philippines produced its own version on the moon landing with
Zarex. The movie starred Willie Sotelo and Carmencita Abad and featured the launching of the spaceship and the landing of man in the moon. It was produced by LVN Pictures under the direction of Richard Abelardo.
"Zarex" (1956)- Stars Willie Sotelo, Carmencita Abad, Jose Vergara, Alfonso Carvajal/ Directed by Richard Abelardo

  1. It's interesting to note that the lead actor is wearing futuristic-type of tights while the woman is dressed in ordinary clothes. :)

  2. Wow, this is not the "Zarex" I rember; Gee, I must have gotten my
mind blanked out by that guy "Zarex".

What I remember when I was a little kid in the PI was a cartoon
character in some comic book, or newspaper; it came out periodically. The guy had an "alien" head and they lived in some planet; they visited Earth for some reason and they disguised themselves as Earthlings and passed amonth the Earth people in Earth forms.

Then they based a movie on this cartoon character; I thought the movie character also had a similiar
    "alien" head and disguise.

Am I wrong? Did my mind get zapped by these guys when I was kid?

Do you know of the original comic book/character on which the "Zarex" movie was based?

    Thanks
