JULIE VEGA REMEMBERED



Julie Pearl Apostol Postigo, who is better known by her screen name Julie Vega (May 21, 1968 – May 6, 1985), was a popular and well-loved Filipino movie and television actress and singer. Her sudden death at the tender age of 16 triggered a massive outpouring of nationwide grief that is still vividly remembered by Filipino showbiz fans after several years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julie_Vega

Sometime in March 1984, I had this great and rare opportunity of photographing Ms. Vega, upon the request of her parents. They will be needing the pictures for their various press releases. Of course, I obliged. It's a good break and something not to be missed! (That time, my career path was in the field of photography- setting up my own studio or a photo processing shop, but that didn't push thru as I ventured into a different field). I asked my friends from my group, Kameradare Camera Club to join and assist me, since I still don't have any background and experience photographing celebrities and this is my first time. That experience was memorable and I want to share some of these photos.

    Thank you so much for this blog about Ate Julie! I'm almost 30 and did not become a big fan of hers until this year, but it's better late than never as they say. She may be long gone, but she's definitely not forgotten. Here's hoping you could have more stuff, if any, about her in the future. Keep up the good work!

    Whats up!!!
    Wow, naman...It's been along time since I remembered...Our eyes were glued on the television during Annaliza's glory...She was the most adored princess of t.v. dramas next to Flordeluna of Janice de Belen...Julie Vega was really a phenomenon at that time. Thanks for posting it....

    I can still remember her angelic face. Para siyang Anghel at super pinay na pinay ang aura.Very conservative. very sad that she passed away. She would have been an award winning actress by now. :(

    sir maybe you can help.. i am trying to find out the title of a movie starring dindo fernando and a very young julie vega. i watched it on Cinema One, it was nice a little bit surreal like the story is all happening inside the head of dindi fernando's character. or it think he was going mad or had some psychosis. nice just the same. eerie.

    si julie vega parang babaeng rico yan bakit? hindi mayabang, napakagaling na artista all in one kaya wala kana makikita na sa mga bago artista ngayon at isipin mo si rico yan pagkatapos mag birthday tsaka siya pumanaw habang nagbabakasyon si julie vega nawala sa tv ng ilang araw yun pala nagkasakit hindi nga nagtagal namaalam din bago siya magbirthday sayang napaka bata pa sana kung buhay pa sila ngayon sigurado hindi matamlay ang mga palabas ngayon sa tv kasi puro fantaserye or kundi korean nobela na nakikita mo sa tv wala na yun mga dati palabas na annaliza at flordeluna na yan na tumatak sa atin lahat..god bless your soul rico and julie the one and only tv soap princess and the cute mr. dimple.. we miss you both and sana sa gma 7 maalala nila si julie vega kasi nagonng tahanan niya yan kahit sa maikling panahon, sana bigyan nila ng tribute si julie gaya ng ginawa kina rico yan, francis magalona , at kay da king fpj.

    Lucky for me to live here within the Murphy neighborhood since 1981 where Julie was once. We miss you! She's two years my senior, nakikita ko pa sya that time madalas dito sa Ali Mall and in church sa OLPH where her father serves as a lay minister because they were a religious family.
