Tama ka Sam, "Dahil sa Iyo," was written in 1938 by Mike Velarde, Jr. primarily for the movie "Bituing Marikit" and sung in the movie by Rogelio dela Rosa.
ReplyDeleteELSA ORYA---ANG PAG PRONOUNCE NG NAME.
ReplyDeleteSI ELSA ORIA ANG JEANETTE MCDONALD NG PINAS..SAYANG NGA LANG WALANG NAKASURVIVE NA COPY ANG SAMPAGUITA PICS SA MGA MOVIES NIYA.
I can't thank you enough for posting these. Elsa Oria (married name Eastman) was my grandmother and I was treated to stories of her career throughout my childhood. Though I have heard her voice on 78 rpm recordings and seen numerous clippings about her career, I too am saddened I never saw her movies. I know so much was destroyed during the war and when the studio burned down. Her coloratura soprano voice was beautiful and she continued to sing until she passed away in 1995.
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing a little of my Grandma back to me.
