The 1961 movie, “Karugtong ng Kahapon” is almost forgotten. Even Eddie Garcia, in most of his interviews never mention or cite this movie which played a big part in his illustrious career. This is Eddie's first directorial assignment, and not "Historia de un Amor" (1963) as previously reported in other articles. Eddie is a Famas Hall of Fame awardee for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. What a feat!

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this movie. Is this available in Kabayan Central?
I wonder if this is the same komiks serial by Clodualdo del Mundo and Fred Carillo? There was a komiks serial with the same title.
Eddie Garcia is indeed one of our very talented actors. What's more, he doesn't care about his image – he'll play a role no matter what, such as the horny vampire in BATUTA NI DRAKULA.
I watched an old copy of DAHIL SA ISANG BULAKLAK yesterday (very old VHS) retrieved from my basement, and I kept imagining Eddie Garcia playing the role of the villain, instead of the late Rod Navarro. Eddie has more presence, creativity, and really knows how to use his voice and body to deliver a role.
By the way, during our golf tournament for Ondoy victims, a Filipino guy showed me a copy of BALIKBAYAN magazine. Malang's work is featured in the September issue. Fantastic piece they feature there. Maybe you should get a copy if you haven't yet.

ReplyDeleteI wish I have a copy of "Dahil sa Isang Bulaklak." Liza Lorena looks gorgeous in that movie, i guess her first movie appearance.
We already have the Balikbayan Magazine issue you're referring to. They're selling it here.
Yes, Blogger TheCoolCanadian, the same KARUGTONG NG KAHAPON film version, was serialized in Tagalog Klasiks, written by Clodualdo del Mundo and illustrated by Fred Carillo.
ReplyDeleteAmante del Mundo, son of the late Clodualdo dM Sr.
