IKE JARLEGO, JR., 68/ AS A CHILD ACTOR (Circa 1951-55)

MANILA, Philippines–Film editor Ike Jarlego Jr. passed away on Aug. 24 (2012). He was 68.

He worked as editor in some of the most acclaimed films from the in the 1970s and 1980s--- Lino Brocka’s “Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag”; Mike de Leon’s “Itim”; Mario O’Hara’s “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos”; and Ishmael Bernal’s “Himala,” among others.

He was also a child actor in 1950s films like “Pag-asa” and “Waray-Waray.” In the 1990s, he directed films like “Andres Manambit: Angkan ng Matatapang” and “Nena.”

According to youngest son Karlo, Jarlego suffered from lung cancer. His wake was at Paket Funeral Homes, Marcos Highway. Funeral is on Sunday, 11 am, at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City. (Source: Bayani San Diego/ Philippine Daily Inquirer)

Jarlego, Jr. had a memorable and brilliant movie career as a child actor. The young Jarlego turned in good performances in his debut movie, “Pag-asa” (1951); “Higit sa Lahat” (1955); “Sonny Boy” (1955) and “No Place to Hide” (1955).


Jarlego became a film editor later in his life, just like his other siblings, reaping awards and honors for his works.
