RARE PRE-WAR TAGALOG MOVIE FLYERS # 8:ROSARIO MORENO AND ROGELIO DE LA ROSA IN "LAGOT NA KUWINTAS" (1939)

One of my favorites, pre-war screen legend Rosario Moreno appeared opposite Rogelio dela Rosa in Sampaguita Pictures' Lagot na Kuwintas. Rosario, the charming star of Tunay na Ina, one of the only five surviving pre-war movies, died in the bombing of Manila during the waning days of WWII, while Dela Rosa continued his movie career after the war, becoming one of the hottest and bankable stars of the post-war era.

"Movie flyers have been used by theater owners as promotional ads to drum up business for movies. They would print them up from materials provided by the studio, adding information on local screening times and locations. Although they were cheaply produced, many of the flyers were quite nicely designed and are now considered highly collectibles. In many cases the original films have been lost, making the surviving flyers the only visual record of numerous movies."

  1. Nakakapanghinayang po talagang isiping ang dami-dami din ng mga pelikulang nawala nung giyera... sayang at hindi na talaga sila pwedeng mapanood. Tsk.

  2. I like Rosario Moreno-Rudy Concepcion tandem. If not for their early death, they would have been a close rival to Carmen Rosales-Rogelio de la Rosa loveteam.

  4. I would like to find more pre-war films in which my father "Ernesto LaGuardia" appeared in. Please advise where his movies are available.
    Thank you.
