"KASAL O' SAKAL" (1964): SOFIA'S NEXT SCREENING AT CCP, OCTOBER 9 (2010)

The Society of Filipino Archivists for Film (SOFIA) will be screening the 1964 film, “Kasal O' Sakal” on October 9, 2 p.m. at Tanghalang Manuel Conde, Cultural Center of the Philippines. The third film in its "Overlooked Films, Underrated Filmmakers" series, the movie starred Rebecca, Hector Reyes, Chichay, Lito Anzures, Oscar Keesee, Aruray, Pablo Virtuoso, Dencio Padilla, Benny Mack, under Johnny Reyes direction.

Shown recently at cableTV Cinema One, the movie tackles a May-December romance--- a young woman (played be Rebecca) married an older man (Oscar Keesee), who have a son (Hector Reyes) romancing a relatively old woman (Chichay), Rebecca's mom. Lots of cameo roles from stars of the 60s, a random shot of FPJ, etc. Comedian Pablo Virtuoso, buddy of FPJ with Dencio Padilla in many movies they did in the 60s, is a revelation here. It made me laugh in several comedy scenes. Watch it on the big screen at CCP.

  3. simon,
ano nga palang nangyari kay lito anzures? he is one of my favorite character actors. magaling sya but very much under rated. i remember him sparring with FPJ with a grass cutter (karet). and he has a few memorable roles like the drunkard in pinakamagandang hayop original and as tata temyong. can you also feature him? thanks! i really love your blog!
