THE 2009 METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL: "ANG PANDAY" BEST PICTURE; RAMON 'BONG' REVILLA, JR. & SHARON CUNETA, TOP AWARDEES (RE-POSTED)

Ang Panday received the Best Picture Award in the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. According to reports on the festival’s awards, a film’s grosses represents about 40% of its merits, so it should be no surprise that Ang Panday was chosen the best film. With revenues estimated at more than P20 million (approx. US$430,000), Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr.’s vehicle has led the Metro Manila festival’s box office in its first three days. It also earned seven other awards--- Best Actor (Ramon Revilla, Jr.); Best Supporting Actor (Phillip Salvador); Best Production Design; Best Special Effects (Jay Santiago); Best Sound Recording (Mike Idioma); Best Original Theme Song (Ogie Alcasid) and Best Child Performer (Buboy Villar).

Regal Films' Mano Po 6: A Mother's Love won six awards--- Best Actress (Sharon Cuneta); Best Supporting Actress (Heart Evangelista); Best Director (Joel Lamangan); Best Screenplay (Roy Iglesias); Best Musical Score (Von de Guzman) and Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.
