TITO, VIC & JOEY, Part Two (MOVIE ADS circa 1981-88)

Eat Bulaga
made a noontime TV history in 1984, being the first to be telecast nationwide by Domsat (Domestic Satellite).

Besides hosting the country's longest noontime show, Eat Bulaga, the wacky trio of Tito, Vic and Joey also made about 30 movies, a feat difficult to break or even duplicate. No one can beat them in the 80s, not even the comedy king, Dolphy. They reigned supreme in the comedy scene and most of their movies spelled success in the box-office. However, towards the latter part of the decade, the three decided to call it quits. Vic and Joey turned solo and pursued their respective movie careers, while Tito went into politics.

Vic Sotto became a very successful film producer and his movies (i.e. Okay Ka Fairy Ko series, Enteng Kabisote series, Lastikman, Fantastic Man) which he both produced and starred were all moneymakers. His movies were festivals top grosser.

Joey de Leon made movies that are mostly spoofs of hit American or local movies i.e Elvis and James, Long Ranger en Tonton, Alyas Batman en Robin, Pandoy, Alalay ng Panday (spoof of FPJ’s Ang Panday). Starzan became a box-office hit in 1989; he did two more sequels on that same year with tremendous box-office results. Because of the phenomenal box-office successes of the 3 Starzan movies, he was named Box-Office King of 1989.

Tito Sotto ventured into political life, serving as Vice Mayor of Quezon City in 1989- 1992, and later served two terms as senator (from 1992-2004). He is currently member of the Board of Directors and acting chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board.

  1. I've seen Bilibid Gays several times on TV during my elementary years..
Up to now, natatawa pa rin ako dun sa first scene..

The gays saw their dead lady boss on the floor with a knife on her stomach, left by her killer..
Vic removed the knife and tried to revive his boss when the police appeared on the scene..

Police: "Huli kayo, Taas ang kamay!"

Vic stabbed the knife back on the stomach and raised his hands...

Police: "Kayo ang pumatay kay madam"

Vic denied "Hindi po!" and grabbed the knife back...

Police: "Sinabi nang Taas ang kamay eh!"

    Vic stabbed the knife again...

Poor lady, she received several stabs from vic.. nyahahahahahaha!!
