The 50s top three movie studios--- Sampaguita-VP Pictures, LVN Pictures and Premiere Productions, normally announced their upcoming movies with a whole page of ads in newspapers or a spread in several movie fan magazines. Among the popular movie magazines then were Kislap-Graphic, Ilang-Ilang, Literary Song-Movie and Movie Confidential. These magazines are goldmine as far as vintage movie ads are concerned. Scouring and browsing through these pages is like revisiting the forgotten past. A sample of this is the magazine spread below, sometime in 1957, announcing the forthcoming movies of LVN--- Topo-Topo, Turista, Troop 11 and Pintor Kulapol.
Simon,
ReplyDeleteI'd totally forgotten Carmencita Abad. She was a rising star, then just disappeared or passed away, I don't know. Thanks for sharing.
