THE 2019 METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL- "MINDANAO"- BEST PICTURE/ JUDY ANN SANTOS- BEST ACTRESS/ ALLEN DIZON -BEST ACTOR




The movie Mindanao won the Best Picture Award in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal held on Friday, December 28 at the New Frontier Cinema in Quezon City.  It also romped away other major awards- Best Actress (Judy Ann Santos), Best Actor (Allen Dizon), Best Director (Brillante Mendoza), Best Child Performer (Yuna Tangog), Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award, Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Float, Gender Sensitive Award.

Write About Love took home the 2nd Best Picture Award, Best Suporting Actor (Joem Basco), Best Supporting Actress (Yeng Constantino), Best Original Song (“Ikaw ay Akin”), Best Editing, Best Musical Score, Special Jury Prize Award.   

Sunod received the 3rd Best Picture Award, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design.

Ang Panday was FPJ's official entry in the 1980 Metro Manila Film Festival. It went on to bag the festival's top grosser and once again reaffirmed FPJ's stature as the filmdom's top moneymaker and undisputed top box-office star. The movie was adapted from a popular Pilipino Komiks serial novel by veteran writer-director Carlo J. Caparas. The first issue came out in March 19, 1979 and became an instant hit among komiks readers.
