Recent events like the Manila hostage crisis killing 8 tourists, torture incident involving a Manila station commander, series of salvaging and unsolved crimes and many more tarnished the record of Manila Police District or MPD. Called the Manila's Finest, the MPD had a long list of cases solved through the years. In 1963, a movie, The MPD Story starring Leopoldo Salcedo, was made chronicling some of the high-profiled cases the MPD handled---Emma Foronda-Abaya case; Arthur Lee kidnap-murder case; Huk Commander Nick Pamintuan case; Grease Gun Gang of Tondo case and the so-called biggest Philippine Bank Robbery Case.
